Lot GN-15: ALTIERI GEISHA NATURAL DF

Coffee and cupping details

Description:

Cultivated at 1850 masl, in a parcel surrounded by the shadow of cigua palm trees, right at the middle of the farm located in Callejón Seco, on the eastern slope of the Baru Volcano.  Looking to enhance the best attributes of the coffee, without losing the cleanness and elegance of our Natural Geisha classic, we developed our Dry Fermentation Process (DF).

This lot underwent a fast-drying process in African beds until the adequate humidity was obtained.  Then the coffee was placed in plastic tanks with the minimum oxygen possible. Afterwards, the coffee was placed in african beds to slow dry and ended resting in our temperature and humidity-controlled warehouse.

We are very satisfied with this process, since we were able to obtain a very unique, complex, and clean cup; representative of Altieri Specialty Coffee.

Boxes: 2
Weight: 100 lbs
Cupping notes: Berries, strawberries, blueberry, raspberry, vanilla, chocolate, jasmine, floral, balanced, delicate, deep aroma, sugar cane, roses, watermelon, pineapple, sweet, wine flavor, citrus.

Farm details

Description:

We are Altieri Specialty Coffee, a family owned specialty coffee growing business, from Boquete in Panama. Our varieties include Geisha, Typica, Catuai and Caturra. Our processes vary between natural, washed and fermented coffees.

These prize-winning coffees are grown on the Eastern slope of the Baru Volcano, surrounded by the virgin cloud forests of the Baru National Park, at a height of between 1,600 and 2,200 meters above sea level, in an area known as Callejón Seco. This area consists of volcanic soil, drained on the slope of the volcanic mountain, at an altitude where winds from the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans collide creating microclimates different from the rest of the country.

Altieri Specialty Coffee was founded by Eugene Altieri, an italian-american businessman residing in Panama who bought the farms, without knowing its potential for growing specialty coffee. After fifteen years of coffee growing and earning various awards, his children are following his legacy working together in order to expand the Altieri Specialty Coffee brand.
